Arte Felguerez has been making small sculptures of iron and paper mache since the early 1960’s. These works have been enjoyed as indoor ornamental accents, and people around the world have expressed fascination with them.
Recently, artist Luis Felguerez transformed certain Arte Felguerez works into public sculptures. The University of Monterrey (Mexico) commissioned Felguerez to create “Forjadores”, first as original small sculptures (specially produced as gifts for university benefactors), and then as large public works of art to be incorporated into design of the campus.
Reaching as high as 15 feet, these large sculptures have transformed a previously unremarkable area of the campus into a lively, colorful space that is enjoyed by the students and faculty each day.
Given the success of this recent commission, Arte Felguerez is pleased to announce that now all of its small sculptures are available to be transformed into public works of art. Patrons will be able to choose from a variety of materials, including iron and stainless steel. Limited editions of the corresponding small sculptures can also be produced.
This unique combination of small indoor sculptures and public works of art is perfect for a public organization (such as a corporation or university) wanting to recognize individuals while providing enjoyable works of art to a larger audience. Luis Felguerez is available to consult with an organization to ensure that the design, production and delivery achieve the highest satisfaction and enjoyment.
